The Mount Prospect Historical Society will be continuing monthly needlecraft nights under a new name — Bessie’s Workbasket.
Join us the second Wednesday of each month in Central School (103 S. Maple St., Mount Prospect) from 10:00 am-12:00 pm or 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Bring your own knitting/crocheting/embroidery project or try our spotlight project each month. All experience levels are welcome! Advance registration is recommended and a $10 donation per class is suggested.
On June 12, we will be making personalized bag/purse charms. Bring a special charm or beads if you wish or use some of ours. Charm bracelets and purse charms have been around forever so come make one for you and one for a friend!
We will be dyeing silk scarfs on July 10. We will take a white silk scarf and dye it using tissue paper. The results are beautiful!
On August 14, we will work on chicken scratch. This type of embroidery dates back to colonial times. You can embroider your design on gingham material.
Upcoming class topics will be posted throughout the year so be sure to check back regularly for updated information.
