Dive into Mount Prospect history this summer with our programs for young historians! Programs are designed for ages 6 (by April 1, 2026) to 11 years old.

  • History Camp
  • Prairie Kids I & II
  • The Science of History
  • If You Lived…
  • Art Fusion: Creativity on Campus

Young historians ages 12+ can apply to become a Junior Camp Counselor. More information and the application will be posted in early 2026.

History Camp

Historians-in-Training will explore different aspects of local history on the Historical Society campus and at various community locations through activities, walking field trips, and special guests. Each unique session of History Camp will combine favorite activities from past sessions with new activities that teach campers about different topics in local history. Programming varies from prior years as well, so repeat campers are welcome!

Session 1: June 8 – 12, 2026
Session 2: July 6 – 10, 2026

Prairie Kid I & II

Come explore life in the late 1800s as a prairie kid. Try old-fashioned chores and games, make a yarn kid, sample homemade lemonade and a no-bake snack, learn sewing skills, and plant vegetables. Each session is unique, so register for one or both!
