Looking to bring a little local history to your organization or classroom? Our Director, Emily Dattilo, has prepared presentations on a variety of topics related to Mount Prospect history. These presentations last approximately half an hour with an additional 15 minutes afterwards for questions. They are primarily written for an adult audience, but most could be adapted to a younger audience. We request a $75 honorarium for each presentation, but we can work with your group’s budget.

Mount Prospect Historic Sites

  • Historical Society Director and author Emily Dattilo will share some of the stories and photos that she gathered while writing the book, Mount Prospect Historic Sites.

Remembering Randhurst

  • Take a walk down memory lane as we review the history of Randhurst Shopping Center. We’ll cover the mall’s exciting beginnings through its transformation into today’s Randhurst Village.

Mount Prospect in the 1960s

  • The 1960s were a time of immense change and growth for Mount Prospect. We’ll explore highlights from this decade as the town transformed from a small farming community to a bustling suburb of Chicago.

Dressing for a New Era: Shopping for Clothes in Post-War Mount Prospect

  • Where did Mount Prospect residents shop for clothes in the 1950s and 1960s? Over these years and many changing styles, new businesses opened up in town, offering unprecedented variety to local shoppers. Learn what Mount Prospect wore and where they purchased those clothes during this transformative time period.

  • This presentation introduces audiences to the Mount Prospect Historical Society and the resources and opportunities we offer to community members.

The Mount Prospect Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed to preserving the history of Mount Prospect, IL, through artifacts, photographs and both oral and written memories of current and former residents and businesspeople.  On its campus in the heart of the Village, the Society maintains the 1906 Dietrich Friedrichs house museum, the ADA-accessible Dolores Haugh Education Center and the 1896 one-room Central School, which was moved to the museum campus in 2008, renovated and opened to the public in 2017, the 100-year anniversary of the Village.
