schoolhousewebThe public is invited to walk through the 1896 one-room Central Schoolhouse which is being restored. It will be open before, during and possibly after the Mount Prospect Historical Society’s second annual outdoor Silent Movie Night which is scheduled to be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 19 at the museum campus, 101-103 S. Maple St., Mount Prospect. The rain date is August 20.

Besides being able to keep tabs on the restoration’s progress, you will be able to enjoy an evening of silent movies under the stars.

Silent film had no spoken dialogue. Actors used muted gestures and emphasized their body language and facial expressions so the audience could understand the feeling the actor was portraying on the screen. It was common for a pianist to play background music.
