About Colony & Crown

British Line in Battle

Colony & Crown: A Revolutionary Experience is a new, exciting event that will bepresented by the Mount Prospect Historical Society.

This colorful event will be reenacted by the North West Territory Alliance (NWTA), the Midwest’s premiere Revolutionary-era re-enacting group. The NWTA is an American Revolutionary War reenactment organization located in the Midwestern United States. The group has over 500 members from states as far west as Iowa, east to Ohio, north to the Canadian border and south to Tennessee, and re-creates the culture and lifestyle of the war for American independence (1775-1783).

The NWTA will bring their skills to Lions Park in Mount Prospect on May 14 and 15, 2011. This will be a rare opportunity to see and talk to themen, women and children who fought to create our nation and lived during the 1770s.

Visitors will experience first-hand all the sights and sounds of this fascinating period in our nation’s history. See uniformed continentals, redcoats, loyalist and militia conduct battle demonstrations up close. Hear the crack of flintlock muskets and the roar of cannon during live battle demonstrations. Smell the black powder smoke and food being cooked over an open fire in the authentic 18th century camp.

Did You Know?

Our area has a direct connection to the Revolutionary War. On Arlington Heights Road just south of the tollway on the east side of the street is a small cemetery. In this cemetery are buried two of only three Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Cook County.
