Mount Prospect Fire Department "Stories"

Mount Prospect Fire Department “Stories” to be presented by Historical Society

Mount Prospect is full of stories — ones that took place years ago and others that are taking place today. These are the fabric of any community.

As part of its continuing effort to relate these stories and keep them alive, the Mount Prospect Historical Society will present the second evening in its “Mount Prospect Stories” series at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Mount Prospect Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St., Mount Prospect.

Mount Prospect Historical Society Executive Director Gregory Peerbolte will present a program on the Mount Prospect Fire Department which will include light refreshments.

“The Mount Prospect Fire Department has grown from a small rural organization into a dynamic and modern department,” said Peerbolte. “Many of the founders of the fire department were also very active in the creation and development of the village itself. It certainly has a storied history.”

“This will be a great evening for anyone of any age who is interested in area history,” he added.

“The evening will be free and open to the public,” said Peerbolte. “It is part of our ongoing effort to be an active organization in the community and not only to educate, but to entertain. Through the use of primary sources, photographs and other archival material, this installment of the ‘Mount Prospect Stories’ series will be again be an engaging, yet informative, experience.”

The Society is requesting that attendees RSVP to 847/392-9006 by Monday, Nov. 9 for this event.
