Mount Prospect Stories

Don’t miss the next Mount Prospect Stories at the MPPL on Thursday, Nov. 8th from 7-8:30 p.m.

Louise Koester (Kester)  became Mount Prospect’s first doctor in the 1920s after struggling to find a hospital that would let a woman complete her residency. People wondered, “Who wants to go to a woman doctor, anyway?” But for more than two decades, she served the area’s residents faithfully during a time when effective medications were rare. Greg Peerbolte, director of the Society, will discuss Koester’s (Kester’s) life and the history of medical care in our area.   Reservations are required.  Call the Library at 253-5675
