Mount Prospect was incorporated in 1917, during a tumultuous time in American and world history. Lindsay Rice, director of the Historical Society, will talk about what life was like before there was an official Mount Prospect. This program is part of Mount Prospect’s Centennial Celebration. Randhurst Village

$10 admission
blackfinn-ameripub-logoThe Mount Prospect Historical Society is teaming up with Randhurst Village’s Charming Charlie boutique and BlackFinn Ameripub for a unique pre-holidays event. Ticket holders can shop to their heart’s delight at Charming Charlie while its style specialists provide them with holiday gifting ideas, style seminars, scarf tying demonstrations and more.  Up to 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Society’s Central School restoration effort. After shopping, participants will be invited to BlackFinn where they will be treated to a complimentary appetizer buffet, plus half-price glasses and bottles of wine. Purchase tickets at www.mtphist.org.  Those who check in at arrival will be automatically entered in a drawing for an all-Randhurst raffle basket.

Location: St. Mark’s Neighborhood
Friday, Dec. 2
3:30 to 9 p.m.
The 29th Annual Holiday Housewalk features local homes decorated for the holidays by their owners, with additional floral arrangements and décor provided by area florists.  This year’s homes are located in the St. Mark’s neighborhood.  Tickets go on sale Nov. 4.  Tickets are $28 before Dec. 2; $30 on day of walk.  Purchase at various locations in town or at www.mtphist.org.  Members can purchase tickets at the Historical Society for $26.

$5 donation per family/group suggested
Celebrate a “Gingerbread Christmas” with the MPHS at its annual holiday open house.  Gingerbread cookies, cakes and houses were part of the German holiday tradition at the Friedrichs’ home.  Various holiday activities for the family will be held throughout the day.
