these-happy-golden-yearsCelebrate the birthday and teaching career of American pioneer girl Laura Ingalls Wilder in Mount Prospect’s newly restored original one-room schoolhouse on Saturday, February 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Children in grades 4-6 will discuss Ingalls’ book These Happy Golden Years while snacking on lunch (provided) packed in a tin pail, just like Laura would have eaten.

Participants will read the book beforehand and come ready to chat a little about the story.  (The book has a Lexile level of 840L and an AR book level of 5.6.)   There are two options for registration: 

  1. Option 1 ($20.00) Includes a copy of the book, pioneer lunch, and souvenir pail. Books may be picked up at the Historical Society Museum (101 S. Maple) after January 1. Deadline to register with book option is December 15, 2016.
  2. Option 2 ($15.00) Includes pioneer lunch and souvenir pail. This is for participants who already have a copy of the book.  Deadline to register without book option is January 31, 2017
