Living History Experience

Dear Teachers and Educators,

Thank you for considering the Mount Prospect Historical Society’s original one-room school for your living history experience. Central School is conveniently located on the Historical Society campus in downtown Mount Prospect. A variety of unique experiences and tours, rich in local history, are offered to fit your needs and meet Common Core State Standards.

The museum campus is open and available for the Living History Experience and/or school tours Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The following options are offered:

Central School Historic Classroom Experience (two hours): $6.00 per student
Morning Session (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)
Afternoon Session (1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
Central School Tour without classroom experience (half hour): $3.00 per student
Dietrich-Friedrichs House Tour with Central School Tour (one hour): $6.00 per student

Tours have flexible times.

For all programs, teachers, aides, and chaperones may participate free of charge. We recommend bringing one adult chaperone for every 10 students. Adults are encouraged to be actively engaged in the experience.

Classroom experience and tours are led by trained docents and/or the Historical Society staff.

Photos and videos are periodically taken of people participating in Mount Prospect Historical Society programs and activities. All persons registering for programs/activities thereby agree that any photograph or videotape taken by the Society may be used for promotional purposes including its electronic media, videotapes, brochures, flyers and other publications without additional prior notice or permission and without compensation to the participant.

Reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis. To book your visit, please call the Historical Society at (847) 392-9006 (Tuesday through Thursday) or click here to use the on-line registration form. Upon booking, you will receive a confirmation with specific information about your program.

We look forward to your visit! Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is something else we can assist you with in bringing local history into your classroom.

Sincerely,
The Mount Prospect Historical Society Staff
